Dream Ivory's ‘About a Boy’ is an introspective delve into how to grow as a person in today’s times
“Before we wrote this album, me and Louie hadn’t written any songs for a long time. We dropped all the old stuff and then took a break and started doing our own thing. So when we really sat down to start writing, we realized we’ve been through so much life, bad stuff and good stuff. We thought, let’s just use the songwriting process as a vessel for our own self- expression. That’s why it’s called ‘About A Boy’. It’s about us.”

In the four years between the two projects, brothers Christian and Louie Baello made a drastic change in musical style. So much so, listeners would be forgiven for believing they were listening to two different bands
The dissonance between the music and lyrics on About A Boy may be uncomfortable for some to digest. But doesn’t that contrast between dark and light represent all of our experiences of coming to terms with life in this world? For fans of electronic tinged pop-rock that give a deep look into the musician’s inner-world, look no further than Dream, Ivory.

The California dream-pop siblings pack a stylish punch on their full-length debut
At a surface level, people are going to hear the songs and they’re going to love it or they’re going to hate it,” Louie contends. “It sounds completely different [from the EP,] but the underlying tones of Dream, Ivory are still there.

The many faces of Ginseng
“We’re called Dream, Ivory and started it in 2016. I grew up listening to a lot of alternative and indie bands, and my brother did too, so we were like, Fuck it, let’s start our own. We knew how to do simple chord progressions and shit, so we wanted to see where we could take it. It was mostly just for fun, like we weren’t trying to get big off it or anything. Now, we’re trying to take it a little more seriously.”

Dream, Ivory reflect on negative feelings with “Would It Kill You at All”
“‘Would It Kill You at All’ is definitely one of our most diverse songs on the new album,” the duo shares of the synth-driven track. “It was especially fun to experiment with synths to create a really intense ARP progression that goes well with the more serious theme of the song. The song in general is really self-reflective and touches on the negative feelings one could feel towards one’s self.”

The powerful duo that is Dream, Ivory
“These two brothers, Louie and Ginseng make up this unruly, alternative group Dream, Ivory. Both add a varietal element of zest to their instrumental approach. With strong guitar melodies, our ears are submersed into a new world of emotion. The pulsating kick drives a memorable backdrop for the hypnotic vocals, enchanting our minds from start to finish.”
